About the Library:
The growing community of Sandy Valley began in the 1800s as the
four mining communities of Kingston, Sandy, Ripley and Platina. Very little
is left of the mining era, and over 2,300 horse lovers and rural
folks reside here now. The library, which started
as a closet in the old Community Center in 1984, now occupies 1,200 square
feet with over 6,200 volumes in a new shared Community Center/Library.
Directions:
Go south on I-15 toward Jean, Nevada, and turn right on State Hwy 161.
Just before reaching Goodsprings take a left on Sandy Valley Road
and go 15 miles over Columbia Pass down into Sandy Valley. After passing
around the Shenandoah Mill, take the first right onto Cherokee. Cherokee
will take a forced left on to Quartz Ave. Follow Quartz Ave to the
California border, and where the pavement ends you will find the library
on the right.
