In a bold move to counter the effects of the Great Depression, in 1931 Nevada legalized gambling and reduced the residency requirement to obtain a divorce to six weeks. From then on, divorce-seekers from all over the United States, mostly women, thronged to Nevada to obtain a divorce.  The first modern divorce ranch in Las Vegas opened in 1939.  Learn the fascinating history of Las Vegas Valley divorce ranches in this talk by Courtney Mooney.
