This top-notch boxing effort has honest promoter 'Nicky' Donati (Edward G. Robinson) getting duped by crooked rival Turkey Morgan (Humphrey Bogart). He sees a chance to return to the top with a feisty young bellhop who turns out to be unbeatable in the ring, but worries when his protege attracts the eye of his girlfriend (Bette Davis).
