FILM: Idiot’s Delight (1939, 105 min)
Vaudeville song-and-dance man Harry Van (Clark Gable) is reunited and forced to share a hotel with actress and fake Russian countess Irene Fellara (Norma Shearer), with whom he had an affair years earlier. The pair gets trapped at a mountain resort on the Italian border as World War II looms. Robert Sherwood adapted his play for this offbeat musical comedy that's famous for Gable's rendition of "Puttin' on the Ritz." Edward Arnold, Burgess Meredith, and Charles Coburn co-star.
