The Virtual Library loves Teachers!
How can we help make your job easier?
  • Online Databases bring information to your fingertips, right at your desk and computer. Don’t drag yourself to the library to find the articles, diagrams, or facts you need. It’s all there, where you need it, when you need it. Even from home. Even late at night.

  • The Librarian's Brain A blog my Librarians to keep you updated on the libraries databases! Includes lesson plans and information literacy games to use in your classroom.

  • 24 hour access to reference books. Working late, preparing an assignment? Putting the finishing touches on a test? Just need that one additional fact, before you can go to bed? The Virtual Library has an enormous library of e-reference books, online, at your fingertips.

  • Games to reinforce learning.
  • Use the The Data Challenge Gameto help students learn about the library databases, citing sources, avoiding plagiarism and evaluating web sites.

  • Use the The 1920s Challenge Gameto help students learn about the library databases, test their knowledge of the 1920s and the novel The Great Gatsby.

  • Use the Petstacular Level 1 Gameto help students learn about the library databases by testing their knowledge of a variety of pets.

  • Use the Petstacular Level 3 Gameto help students learn about the library databases by testing their knowledge of a variety of pets.

  • In-service training, in Virtual Library use for teachers. Sure, the Virtual Library has all this good stuff, but how can you be expected to know how to use it? The library will come to you, and show you how! We’ll schedule a visit to your school, to show a group of teachers all the time-saving tips and tricks. Or, you can schedule a one-on-one training with the Virtual Library. We make it easy for you!

  • Classroom training in Virtual Library use, for students. Are you getting ready to assign a research project, and just can’t face the inevitable whines of "But Teacher, I couldn’t find anything..." The library will come to your class, and show your kids where to find great, reliable, authoritative information, online, in the Virtual Library. Yes, we do know that the first kid there checks out every single book on Martin Luther King (or Montana, or Mars). No worries! The Virtual Library has it all available in unlimited quantities. You tell us the general topic, and we’ll come tell ’em how to find it.

  • Ask-A-Librarian Service (email and chat) for those sticky questions. "I’m trying to find a picture of...", "Who was the vice president for...", "Do you have any copies available right now of..." Sometimes you need an answer now, and you can’t get to the library. The Virtual Library has librarians available to answer your questions, in chat, or by email. We’ll find the information, and get you the answers.

  • eMedia for work and play. Shhh, don’t tell anyone, but there’s life after school. The Virtual Library has eBooks, eVideos, eAudioBooks, and eMusic, all available for download. Don’t drag yourself to the library. Go home. Download something pleasant. Take a load off. You deserve it.

  • Ask us how!
