What is the library catalog?

A.

It is the complete electronic library card catalog listing of over 2.7 million items in the Library District's collection. These items include books, CDs, videos, DVDs, books on tape, foreign language materials, large print books, CD ROMs and more.

Can I find out the due dates on my borrowed items from the Library District's web site?

A.

From the Library District's web site, personal account information can be reached from the My Account link at the left of any page. You will need both your library card and PIN numbers. Be sure to log out completely when finished.

You may place up to 15 requests.

What is a PIN number?

A.

A PIN is a personal identification number that allows you to access your account information in the library's catalog. Your PIN allows you to request items, view your account information and renew materials.

How do I get a PIN?

A.

Visit any Las Vegas-Clark County Library District branch. Bring photo identification and your library card to the Circulation Desk to request a PIN number. If you are under the age of 14 and do not have photo identification, your parent or guardian can show their photo identification.

I forgot my PIN. What should I do?

A.

Bring your photo identification and your library card to the Circulation Desk and request to have your PIN reset.

Can the library send me e-mail?

A.

Yes. Register your e-mail address at the Circulation Desk and the library will send you e-mail notification when the items that you request arrive or if you have overdue materials. If your e-mail address changes, be sure to notify the library.

What on-line databases does the library offer?

A.

The library offers more than 30 reference and magazine databases that can be accessed through the library web site from the library, home or work.

Follow the links to the Research Databases. Have your library card ready. You will be asked to type in your library card number.
