JG: Did you know those two women personally...
DE: Yes.
JG: Flora Dungan and Helen Herr?
DE: Yes, I did. (DEisenberg1) So when Jean
wanted to run for office, she had a willing group of women,
I - I think hundreds, that wanted to help. And then she had
to organize who did what, a - and I think that she did a -
a good job at that, and we didn't care what party she was.
The fact is, several people went to - who were in the League
a - and Jean was a Republican at the time and we were Democrats,
and the Democratic Party wanted to throw us out because we
were helping a Republican. So there were many Democrats who
gave money to Jean and supported Jean, because they knew she
wasn't for a party, she was for issues and for better things
for the state, so it - it really wasn't a party thing, but
it got to be with - with some people.(DEisenberg1)
