INTERVIEWS AND NARRATIVES
RENEE DIAMOND
Renee Diamond was a state legislator in the Nevada Assembly
and worked on the ERA, Campaign for Choice, and Democratic women
campaigns. At the time of this interview she served as the Administrator
of the Division of Manufactured Housing for the State of Nevada.
Renee
has three children and was a stay-at-home mother when she
moved to Las Vegas in 1972 from Los Angeles, CA. Renee was
an activist in Los Angeles and easily got involved in Las
Vegas. She met Jean Ford at a conference at UNLV and they
"took a liking to each other right away". In 1976, Jean Ford
contacted Renee to have her on the steering committee for
the International Women's Year conference. Renee refers to
Ford as a mentor. They remained close friends for the rest
of Ford's
life, and she would leave "wonderful little notes" for Renee
when she visited Las Vegas. "I miss her all the time," Renee
states.
