INTERVIEWS AND NARRATIVES
GUY
ROCHA
Guy Rocha was appointed to the Nevada State Archives in 1981,
after working with the Nevada Historical Society in Reno since
1976. Guy divulges that he was raised in a culture of women
and during graduate school at San Diego State, took classes
in women's studies and feminism, because he was interested
in "any group I considered oppressed".
Jean Ford
was a State Senator at the time Guy became the State Archivist
in February 1981, and the two worked together on administrative/legislative
items. Guy uses "persistent, zealous, and leader" when describing
Jean Ford. When Jean became the director of the Women's Studies
Program at UNR, she turned to Guy for assistance.
