SIERRA CLUB

Shortly after moving to Las Vegas in 1963, Jean and Sam Ford started exploring southern Nevada and surrounding areas. Their interest in nature and the environment put them in contact with others who had similar interests. Together these people formed a local chapter of the Sierra Club. The Fords actively participated in hikes, camping trips, and programs, and got to know southern Nevada very well.

Later, in her professional career, Jean would do contract work for the Sierra Club to develop support for wilderness areas.
